Mike Potenza is a managing partner and Director of Human Performance for Tactical Fitness and Performance, LLC.
Mike has spent the last 6 years as the Human Performance Director with The 131st Pararescue Unit at Moffett Federal Airfield in Mountain View, California. He is also the Human Performance Director of the 212th Pararescue unit at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, AK. He has implemented workouts for Pararescue (PJ), Combat Rescue Officer (CRO), and Pararescue (PJ) Candidates who are in the student pipeline. Among his strength coaching responsibilities Mike provides nutritional consultation, administers physical Testing and evaluation protocols, and implements Rehabilitation programming to all members of the unit. Mike has also had an opportunity to design the new 131st training facility and outfit it with top of the line strength training equipment.
Mike is in his sixth year as the San Jose Sharks strength and conditioning coordinator. He’s responsible for the team’s overall strength and conditioning programs -- including the creation of individualized post-season workout programs and assistance in the rehabilitation efforts for all injured players. He also is responsible for the physical testing and evaluation of all players in the Sharks organization.
Before coming to San Jose, for 3 years Potenza has served as a Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coach at the University of Wisconsin. Prior to his time there he held assistant strength coach positions at Colgate University and Harvard University. During his undergraduate work he successfully completed several internships at Colligate institutions and at a Private training facility in the greater Boston area specializing in various weight training, conditioning, agility, plyometric, recovery and rehabilitation programs.
